Clarence L. Mohr taught history at Tulane University for 17 years and since 1998 has been professor and chair
in the Department of History at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He is the author of On the Threshold of
Freedom: Masters and Slaves in Civil War Georgia (University of Georgia Press, 1986) and numerous other scholarly
works.
Joseph E. Gordon is dean emeritus of Tulane College at Tulane University, where he served in
academic administration from 1954 to 1996.
